Met zijn debuut-EP ‘The Art Of Being Young’ geeft talentvolle muzikant Robin Storm een ongefilterd inkijkje in de emoties die komen kijken bij het opgroeien. Van zijn 15e tot 25e schreef Robin Storm heel veel liedjes. Een selectie van deze liedjes vormt ‘The Art Of Being Young’: een muzikaal verhaal waarmee de kwetsbaarheid van tieners/jongvolwassenen wordt gevierd. ‘The Art Of Being Young’ is vanaf nu overal te beluisteren! Om de release te vieren gaf Robin Storm op 8 februari samen met zijn band een concert in BIRD, Rotterdam.
Zolang hij zich kan herinneren heeft Robin Storm al passie voor muziek. Hij studeerde af als drummer aan het Rijn IJssel college in Arnhem. Maar de muzikale reis van de 25-jarige muzikant begon pas echt toen hij zelf liedjes ging schrijven en uitvoeren. Zijn track ‘Duly Love’, die ook op de EP staat, is inmiddels meer dan 9,5 miljoen (!) keer gestreamd op Spotify. En nadat Robin Storms meest recente liedje ‘Let Me Be Your Man’ de Maxplaat op NPO Radio 5 werd, is het nu tijd voor de release van zijn bijzondere debuut-EP.
In zijn liedjes zingt Robin Storm op prachtige en openhartige wijze over de worstelingen en triomfen van een ingewikkeld doch prachtig tijdperk uit zijn leven. Zijn track ‘Nothing On You’ gaat bijvoorbeeld over zelfontdekking en persoonlijke groei. Door de inspirerende songtekst, heerlijke melodieën en stevige four-on-the-floor beat zit je binnen no-time in een positieve stemming en voor je het weet zing je de gehele songtekst met Robin Storm mee. Door zijn originele manier van schrijven betrekken luisteraars ongemerkt de verhalen van Robin Storm op hun eigen ervaringen. De muziek die hij ooit op zijn kamer schreef om een beetje grip te krijgen op de onbegrijpelijke wereld, is nu met zijn eigen band uitgewerkt tot heerlijke popmuziek. Liedjes van Robin Storm worden daarom al jaren beluisterd vanuit Spotify-playlists zoals als ’t Koffiehuis en Morning Tea.
De avond voor de release, op 8 februari, organiseerde Robin Storm samen met zijn band een uniek concert in BIRD Rotterdam, waar hij zijn EP op spectaculaire wijze heeft gepresenteerd.
Dizzy Panda, a independent producer duo hailing from Haarlem, the Netherlands, has joined forces with the eclectic indie rock band, The Perics, bridging the gap between the UK and the Netherlands. Bonded by their shared admiration for the legendary band Eels, this has blossomed into a fun and exciting collaboration project.
It all began with an initial demo crafted by Dizzy Panda, “Mad Maggie” about the crew of the Flying Dutchmen. The Perics (Matt Warren & Gideau ‘Gee’ Nielssen) breathed life into the project. The magic was undeniable, prompting the decision to elevate this collaboration to – a full-fledged album. The album is now ready for launch with 12 tracks and a release date set on March 8th. The girl band Younique (who featured in The Voice Holland) also feature in one of the tracks.
PENTAPOLIS
The album is titled “Pentapolis”. The title itself draws inspiration from the concept of Pentapolis, a grouping of five cities. This metaphor resonates deeply as we crafted this album without ever setting foot in a physical studio together.
The concept of Pentapolis finds its roots in the lesser-known play by William Shakespeare, “Pericles, Prince of Tyre.” In this timeless tale, Prince Pericles embarks on a courageous and adventurous journey, facing shipwrecks, encounters with pirates, and the loss of loved ones. Pericles was a Greek politician and general during the Golden age of Ancient Greece. Pericles’ most visible legacy can be found in the literary and artistic works of the Golden Age, much of which survive to this day.
The tracks on the album “Pentapolis” draw inspiration from Pericles’ odyssey. The music reflects the diverse influences of both bands, spanning across genres from rock and jazz to pop and funk.

About the artists:
Dizzy Panda are Mike & Mool. A masked DIY duo from Haarlem (NL). Their biggest succes so far is to have 2 songs in the snob2000 (edition 2023), one in a collab with the Dutch band Chabliz. They love to work with all kind of artists and genres and have released 4 albums so far (lounge, triphop, funk, jazz).
The Perics are a brit pop band from Liverpool (UK) by Matt Warren and Gee Nelson (Giedeau Nelissen). The Perics try to focus on great melodies and don’t care that much in which genre. It varies from rock to power pop to pop rock to singer songwriter to grunge to synth punk pop.
In a captivating blend of catchy indie rock, and nostalgic post-hardcore, No Wake delivers their debut banger of a single. This track will make you go from dancing on a chair in your living room to throwing the chair over-head at the wall, as they make you reflect on the rise, addiction, and demise of a toxic relationship. There is much more to come with a sonically rich full-length album containing 3 music videos. The band plans on touring the summer/fall/winter of 2024 as they bring the live energy you’ve been craving. The track is out now on all streaming platforms, including Spotify.

Alpha Rats – Pinguin Radio Showcases 19 januari – Tikibar
Naast een liefde voor alles wat gruizig en overstuurd klinkt, beschikken de Alpha Rats (voormalig leden van Disturbance, Organisms, wet Boys, The Levi’s, Worgpaal en Spider Rico) over een onuitputtelijke bron materiaal. Herzien en voorzien van een flinke laag low gain en distortion blijken weggestopte ideeën tegenwoordig ongehoorde pareltjes.
Onder de noemer “post-wave”: een combinatie van rauwe punk en de ongepolijste diy mentaliteit van garage beleefd de band haar eerste successen in Den Haag (Sniester, Zwarte Ruiter Barakka Bash).
Cocoa River – Pinguin Radio Showcases 18 januari – Q Factory Stage Front
Cocoa River is een Zaanse band, opgericht in de zomer van 2017. Vijf gedreven muzikanten geboren in de jaren ’90 die de tent graag op zijn kop zetten. Cocoa River staat voor goede muziek en plezier hebben met elkaar. Dit is op het podium goed te zien. Maar zeker ook naast het podium trekken de bandleden graag met elkaar op.
Cocoa River heeft zijn naam te danken aan de Zaan met aan haar oevers de o zo bekende cacaofabrieken. De band laat zich graag inspireren door muzikanten uit de jaren ’80, ’90 en ’00. Invloeden die terug te horen zijn in hun eigen werk zijn: John Mayer, Eric Clapton, The Red Hot Chili Peppers, U2 en Pink Floyd.
The Meadow – Pinguin Radio Showcases 17 januari – Q Factory Stage Back
Warm indie-rock and melancholic ‘folky’ songs, The Meadow combines both crafts in their repertoire.
The Dutch indie band originates from Zwolle, the Netherlands, and was founded at the end of 2021 following a Facebook call to form a new band. It didn’t took long before four musicians first met in the rehearsal room and started working together on their own music. Four strangers turned into four friends. Their passion for writing music and the ambition to become successful with it bound the group together.
Fuzzy Teeth – Pinguin Radio Showcases 18 januari – Q Factory Stage Back
From whisper-soft and fragile to raw and in-your-face. Electronic vibes, combined with electric guitars. Sturdy, then sensitively fragile and acoustic. Lo-fi sounds and bedroom vocals.
Guitarist and songwriter Anthony Koenn releases his own work under the name FUZZY TEETH. Anthony was active in music from an early age. At the age of 15 he toured with, among others, the energetic punk rock bands Forever Saturday and Peach along the Dutch stages.

Statera – Pinguin Radio Showcases 19 januari – Q Factory Stage Back
Formed in late 2022, Statera was invited to play Simplon UP in the beginning of 2023. With not even half of the setlist written, the band worked hard and managed to play a full set within less than six months of its existence.
With a complete setlist and loads of ambition, the band played another fifteen shows in 2023 and in the meantime released their two singles “Slowdrive” and “Regret”.
Bunker – Pinguin Radio Showcases 19 januari – Classic
BUNKER is a modern rock band that is all about making passionate and pure music! With influences from various 90’s and 00’s bands such as Oasis, Nirvana and Arctic Monkeys, BUNKER creates a sound that will keep you on the edge of your seat!
By incorporating their inspirations from previous decades into modern rock, the band has a unique but powerful sound! The young rock band consists of 5 guys who all have the same vision: convincing as many people as possible of their music!
VOZ – Pinguin Radio Showcases 19 januari – Q Factory Stage Back
“Heel eigen stijl… karakteristieke melodische wendingen… eigentijds geluid” schrijft popjournalist Peter Bruyn over VOZ. VOZ is een Nederlandstalige indiepopband uit Haarlem.
De band bouwt met elektrorock en jazz-invloeden voort op de lange traditie van tekst-georiënteerde Nederlandstalige kwaliteitspop, van Frank Boeijen tot Eefje de Visser. VOZ is als live-act ook wel omschreven als ‘The Police meets Steely Dan meets Jan Wolkers.’
Jake W Styles and his Stylebrigade – Pinguin Radio Showcases 17 januari Slachthuis Stage
Ever since he was a kid, he was drawn to the stage. And does his first performance when he’s 8 years old. Since then, he plays many shows in the Netherlands and abroad. In the late nineties his band Beyond93 signs a contract with Columbia Records (Sony Music) and releases the album Stop looking back! Which receives good reviews.
Jake is the singer/guitarist and writes all the songs for the band. Jake plays in various bands after Beyond93 where he writes most of the music for, mostly as lead guitarist. But he always wants to make his own record.
Discover DIZTEN’s Alternative Pop. Even though that is a combination of two opposite genres, for DIZTEN, it’s all about that intriguing midfield that lies between them. The music is in that 80’s tradition of computer drums, synth bass, dark pads, guitar riffs and melodic vocal lines. Go and discover DIZTEN yourself!

Lowaddicts – Pinguin Radio Showcases 19 januari – Groote Griet
A powerful, warm electronica-act that moves between house, pop and trip-hop: that’s the best way to describe Lowaddicts. The typical Lowaddicts-ambiance gives you the urge to dance but also the feeling of dreaming away on a warm summer night. Dillan, Maaike and Tessa, all coming from different musical backgrounds, combined their forces, resulting in the Lowaddicts-sound.
The name Lowaddicts is a reference to the yearly Lowlands Festival: A place where all possible forms of music can exist next to each other and where ambiance is the most important factor. Something that also applies to Lowaddicts. In their music, atmosphere is always central and with that they create a place where everything; style, musical background and personality comes together.
Löna – Pinguin Radio Showcases 19 januari – Musicmaker Groote Griet
LÖNA’s melancholic sound is the perfect Dark & Stormy cocktail. The identical twin sisters mix rough synth sounds with ethereal guitars and a lot of four-to-the-floor beats, to give it a nice kick. Together with heartfelt lyrics about for example the passing of their dad, activism and (LGBT) love make the LÖNA-formula complete. As you listen to their music, you can imagine a cold and dark open Scandinavian landscape, hence their northern-sounding band name which means “valuable” in Swedish. The dutch twins are inspired by northern acts such as Björk, AURORA and Tove Lo.
Salesmen – Pinguin Radio Showcases 18 januari – Tikibar
Salesmen is a four-piece rock band that originated in The Hague in 2020. They first took the stage in 2022 with a Benelux tour where they promoted their first EP ‘One More, Please‘.
With the help of an overwhelmingly successful crowdfunding campaign, the band released their debut album ‘Cheap Suckers’. The release was celebrated with a nearly sold out show at PAARD in The Hague and was followed by a subsequent Benelux tour.
Zoetwater – Pinguin Radio Showcases 18 januari – SiSo Stage
Brothers Jelle and Sieb from Zoetwater perform their poetic lyrics and melancholic melodies with harmonies that only brothers can achieve. Their acoustic folk is arranged from minimalist (as a duo) to grandiose with a full band.
In 2023, the duo entered a London studio for the second time with producer Ian Grimble (known for his work with Mumford & Sons, Bear’s Den, Daughter, and Causes) to record their third EP.
