De single Moral Of The Story van de Amerikaanse zangeres Ashe, stond in Nederland al een week lang op nummer 1 in de Viral Top 50. Het liedje is te horen in de Netflix serie All The Boys I’ve Loved Before: P.S. I Still Love You. Moral Of The Story, geschreven en geproduceerd door FINNEAS, de broer van Billy Eilish, gaat niet alleen op de streaming diensten als een komeet (110 miljoens streams op dit moment). Op Tik Tok is het totaal aantal views intussen al opgelopen tot meer dan 1,8 miljard. Intussen stapt wereldwijd de radio ook in, en groeit het uit tot een heuse hit.

Major Lazer werkt met Marcus Mumford voor nieuwe single
Major Lazer releaset vandaag een nieuw nummer Lay Your Head On Me met Marcus Mumford. Het nummer, een van Mumfords eerste samenwerkingen in zijn soort, werd samen geschreven met MØ en ging eerder vanavond in première als Annie Mac’s Hottest Record in the World.
Lay Your Head On Me is de opvolger van Que Calor feat. J Balvin en El Alfa, dat door Balvin en Jennifer Lopez werd gebracht tijdens de Super Bowl in februari. Het nummer heeft wereldwijd op dit moment meer dan 400 miljoen streams.
Vorige jaar werkte Major Lazer ook samen met Beyoncé voor haar Grammy-nominated album The Lion King en stonden ze samen met Anitta in de charts met hun track Make It Hot.
mxmtoon – quiet motions
Een ukelele, een Youtube-account en stiekeme opnamesessies vanuit haar slaapkamer. Zo begon het DIY sprookje van de 19-jarige Amerikaanse singer-songwriter Maia. Onder de naam mxmtoon plaatste Maia video’s van akoestische covers en eigen nummers. Niemand van haar familie en vrienden die ervan wist, totdat ze opeens werd opgepikt door een keur aan toonaangevende muziekblogs. En toen ging het snel. Inmiddels is ze een album rijker, honderden miljoenen streams verder en heeft ze recent een uitverkochte tour in de VS en Canada achter de rug. Tijd dus om de Atlantische Oceaan over te steken en ook neer te strijken in Nederland. Om precies te zijn in Rotterdam op het Motel Mozaique Festival waar ze op 17 april te zien zal zijn. Zes – Alright
His first single of the year, ‘Dive’, already showcased Zes opening up more than we were used to. With ‘Alright’, he is stepping up. Having been in a relationship for a while where he spent most of his energy helping out his partner in overcoming her troubles and making her feel better, Zes found himself unable to open up about his own fears and doubts and ultimately not being able to be the best version of himself. In ‘Alright’, Zes evaluates that situation and stares right into the eyes of the inner demon that influenced him.
Opening with a beautiful guitar strum and Zes’ calming voice while still containing the unique electronic sounds we know him for, ‘Alright’ has an increased indie sound that once again showcases Zes developing on not only a personal but on a musical level as well. The song is about getting to know your inner demons and doubts, facing them and ultimately telling them, it’s alright. It’s about accepting them and thereby taking ownership of your negative emotions, your negative behaviour and the painful memories they come with.
To Zes, ‘Alright’ is the second essential part to a continuous flow of self-development, he describes:
“There’s always new thought- and behavioural patterns emerging, some of them come from the heart, some of them come from the mind. ‘Alright’ to me is about acknowledging the pain in my heart, the judgement from my mind about that pain, and taking care of myself in creating a sense of ownership about my behaviour and feelings.”
‘Alright’ is Zes’ second song of the full EP he will be releasing on bitbird later in 2020.

Faces on TV breidt uit Europese tour uit, nieuwe single Time After Time
Na de release van het energieke Womba, komt Faces on TV nu met een ware indieslijper; Time After Time.
De band rond Jasper Maekelberg heeft ondertussen ook zijn Europese tour uitgebreid. In Nederland staat Faces on TV in de Amsterdamse Melkweg op 11 april.
Jasper Maekelberg van Faces on TV was één van de drijvende krachten achter Warhaus, als producer of mixer werkte hij ook mee aan zowat alle interessante Belgische releases van de laatste jaren: Balthazar, Bazart, J. Bernardt, Tsar B, Sylvie Kreusch, u zegt het maar.

Anderhalf jaar geleden kwam album Chris uit, met ondermeer de successingle Girlfriend. Sindsdien tourde Christine and the Queens de wereld rond. Recent werkte ze nog samen met Charli XCX voor de single Gone.
San Holo brengt nieuwe single ‘Honest’ uit met Broods
In deze tijd is eerlijkheid een zeldzaam goed geworden in deze wereld.
San Holo’s nieuwe single, ‘Honest’, featuring Broods, onderzoekt het thema van pure intenties en oprecht blijven in al je interacties.
“Honest is a song I wrote a few years back about being honest in every aspect of your life. It delves into the idea of being as genuine as possible when you meet someone, even if nothing comes of it. I would rather be transparent from the start than create a false of who I am or what I expect,” deelt Sander.
De single biedt een vrouwelijk perspectief op het oprecht zijn van een speelfilm van Georgia Nott van het alternatieve duo Broods uit Nieuw Zeeland.
“Like a lot of songs I write, it half came out of the subconscious pool in my brain. One of those songs that you listen to a year later and understand what you meant more than when you wrote it. It’s just about feeling like there is nowhere to hide when somebody truly sees you as you and asking to have the same transparency in return,” vertelt Georgia over het ontstaan van ‘Honest’.
De single is gepland voor een release op 31 januari via Astralwerks.
San Holo debuteert zijn liveband op M3F en Okeechobee en headliner voor een speciale eenmalige show in San Franciso’s legendarische Bill Graham Civic Centre. Hierna begint hij aan een hele reeks internationaal gerenommeerde festivals in de lente waarbij hij een bezoek zal brengen aan Zuid-Amerika en Azië.
