Lonely The Brave / Black Peaks Tour 2015
Tour Blog / Diary #1 – Guitarist Ross Smithwick
Friday November 6th
So here we are. Back on the road. The team back together. It hasn’t been the easiest start to tour, what with us missing our ferry crossing to Ireland and having to wait through the night to get the next one, but its all good, we have arrived in Dublin safe and in one piece. We even managed to get some sleep which is a real bonus.
The week leading up to tour has been fairly hectic too, with us coming out of the studio with most of our second record in the bag after a three week intense recording session. So with just a few days to get our lives in order, and work out how to play our songs again its been full on, but very exciting. We cant wait to get back on the stage and play some brand spanking new songs across Europe.
Dublin is a great town, most of us have been here before as tourists but its the first time we have played here, and Ireland in general so we have been looking forward to this. First thing on my mind is to find a local boozer that sells Smithwick’s ale, my family namesake but probably not actually related at all. It is delicious though and I want to steal a glass to take home for the mantel piece.
The venue here is looking great, small but perfectly formed. I like this close intimate shows where you can see right in to the eyes of the people standing in front of you, singing the words back to you from such a close distance. Its quite a feeling, and one that cant really be described.
We’re just about to soundcheck so I better dash. More soon…
