Vandaag verschijnt de nieuwe single She’s Stronger van de Amsterdamse singer/songwriter Nana Adjoa. Ze pakt het internationaal aan:
Nana explains the story behind the track, “I used to think of myself as a particularly independent person. And then you meet someone, a woman, who is actually that person you imagined yourself to be. She’s stronger, better, more real, more independent, freer, more everything. She’s not in your life anymore, and you miss her and her strength. She made you feel insecure and inspired at the same time. She’s a version of yourself you want to be.”
Born and raised in Amsterdam, Nana Adjoa is a multi-instrumentalist, producer, and singer with Ghanian roots. After studying jazz at the Amsterdam Conservatory, Nana started to release her poetic blend of soul, folk, and jazz. Tackling complicated questions of race, gender, religion, and sexuality, Nana often meditates on the meaning and make-up of one’s identity. Her thoughtful music has already turned heads at 3fm, Fader, Stereogum, KCRW, Refinery29 and landed her on stage at Best Kept Secret and Pinkpop along with slots supporting Benjamin Clementine, Neneh Cherry, among others.
