Honeymoon On Mars is de titel van het nieuwe album van The Pop Group, de grondleggers van de postpunk. Het is het vervolg op het vorig jaar verschenen Citizin Zombie, het eerste album dat de band na een stilte van vijfendertig jaar uitbracht. The Pop Group is op zondag 27 november live te zien in Paradiso Noord / Tolhuistuin in Amsterdam. Hieronder zie de eerste single Zipperface.
De productie van Honeymoon On Mars lag in de handen van gerenommeerde producers Hank Shocklee (The Bomb Squad, Public Enemy, LL Cool J) en Dennis Bovell, die ook het debuutalbum Y uit 1979 produceerde. Over de samenwerking zegt zanger Mark Stewart: “We’ve at last fulfilled a double fantasy to work with our two favourite sonic assassins, Dennis ‘Blackbeard’ Bovell and Hank Shocklee. We’re in awe as Dennis, the Captain Kirk of dub is taking us on a hyper sound voyage into the future, and Hank, as always tears up the rules totally upholding our faith in the absolute value of noise. We’ve gone completely off the map.”

The Pop Group bewees tijdens de tournee voor Citizin Zombie nog niets aan kracht te hebben ingeboet. De uit duizenden herkenbare combinatie van dub, funk en punk van The Pop Group is vandaag de dag nog even relevant als in de late jaren ’70.
