The Killers – Caution

The Killers heeft een nieuwe single uit, Caution. Met videoclip! ‘s Werelds bekendste band uit Las Vegas komt dit jaar met een nieuw album, Imploding The Mirage. Voorproefje Caution klinkt alweer lekker aanstekelijk, zoals we dan Brandon Flowers & co gewend zijn. De sound doet soms wat denken aan The War On Drugs, niet zo gek aangezien Mr. TWOD Adam Granduciel himself meewerkte aan de plaat. Een andere ster die je hoort is Fleetwood Mac gitarist Lindsey Buckinghim, de gitaarsolo op het eind is van hem! Het nieuwe album verschijnt 29 mei.

Ashe – Moral Of The Story

De single Moral Of The Story van de Amerikaanse zangeres Ashe, stond in Nederland al een week lang op nummer 1 in de Viral Top 50. Het liedje is te horen in de Netflix serie All The Boys I’ve Loved Before: P.S. I Still Love You. Moral Of The Story, geschreven en geproduceerd door FINNEAS, de broer van Billy Eilish, gaat niet alleen op de streaming diensten als een komeet (110 miljoens streams op dit moment). Op Tik Tok is het totaal aantal views intussen al opgelopen tot meer dan 1,8 miljard. Intussen stapt wereldwijd de radio ook in, en groeit het uit tot een heuse hit.

Nu COVID-19 er zeker tot 1 juni voor zorgt dat alle concerten en festivals voor de komende tijd worden afgezegd of verplaatst, worden artiesten meer en meer geconfronteerd met de negatieve financiële gevolgen die dit met zich meebrengt. Met andere woorden: Er worden grote verliezen geleden en de live-industrie is in gevaar. 

Artiesten steken veel tijd, moeite en geld in het maken van nieuwe muziek, en ze moeten vaak grote investeringen doen voordat ze de bandbus of het vliegtuig instappen. Die kosten hoop je als artiest terug te verdienen met het geven van optredens en de verkoop van merchandise. Maar met de onzekere vooruitzichten komen artiesten meer en meer in zwaar weer. En dat niet alleen, ook de toeleverende industrie heeft het zwaar.

En hoe langer het duurt hoe moeilijker het wordt om je hoofd boven water te houden. Want de inkomsten uit royalties (bijv. streaming) en auteursrechten komen met (grote) vertraging. Om daar verandering in te brengen is de website www.pleasedontstopthemusic.nl opgericht. Een website waar je je favoriete Nederlandse artiesten kunt steunen door het kopen en luisteren van Muziek & Merchandise via hun webshop. Zo kan er voor worden gezorgd dat onze artiesten straks kunnen blijven optreden. Please Don’t Stop The Music:

“Maar we willen er ook een plek van maken, waar je uiteindelijk het hele Nederlands muzieklandschap kan ontdekken. Van groot tot klein, elk genre en van de Waddeneilanden tot Limburg. Want die veelzijdigheid van artiesten maakt onze muziekindustrie tot een unieke. Nu je noodgedwongen thuis zit kan je vast wel wat nieuwe muziek gebruiken voor je verzameling. Hanni El Khatib – ALIVE

Today, Hanni El Khatib announces his new album Flight. Out May 15th via Innovative Leisure, the album is the artist’s fifth full-length and the most complete embodiment of who he is as an artist. Produced by Leon Michels (El Michels Affair, Travis Scott, Mark Ronson, Lana Del Rey), the album is a record both dense and intricate yet direct and spontaneous. It is garage rock, it is hip-hop, it is soul, it is blues, it is psychedelic, but more than anything, Flight is a brilliant Hanni El Khatib record that taps into the adolescent spirit of creation that first stirred him to make songs in the first place.

Hanni El Khatib is also sharing a new song and video. “ALIVE” is a levitative groove with a narcotic jazz piano riff built atop a bruised but euphoric vocal that states “I can’t believe I survived.” The track is the second taste of the album following “STRESSY,” which came with a Daniel Pappas-directed video.

 

Speaking on the inspiration behind “ALIVE,” Hanni says: “Last April I was in a pretty serious car accident. Our vehicle was rear ended at high speed leaving the car crumpled up and flipped over. Miraculously we were all able to have come out relatively unscathed with only a few minor injuries. It was definitely a close call. Even the paramedics and police officers on site were in shock that we were all standing there given the severity of the crash. The whole experience gave me some some much needed perspective on life. I knew I wanted to touch on that somehow on this record. When the instrumental came together for the track it immediately felt like the perfect backdrop for this story.”

 

Flight follows 2017’s Savage Times and his releases with Frank Leone (“Solid Gold” and “Crown”), his song with LA disco-not-disco duo De Lux (“Power Struggle), two songs with first-generation Mexican-American singer/songwriter Rudy De Anda (“Plastered Beach” and “Jealous Guy”), and LA duo Pinky Pinky’s raw and exhilarating debut album Turkey Dinner, which El Khatib co-produced.

Pinguin Radio presenteert om 22:00 uur Heaven Radio #210

HeavenPinguin Radio en Popmagazine Heaven delen twee belangrijke eigenschappen: een passie voor goede muziek en een volstrekt onafhankelijke opstelling. Dat moest natuurlijk tot een samenwerking leiden

Heaven verzorgt iedere dinsdagavond van 22:00 tot 23:00 een uur lang de muziek op Pinguin Radio. Net als Pinguin heeft Heaven oor voor – bijna – alle popmuziek. In het uurtje radio hoor je muziek uit verschillende genres: (classic)rock, roots, folk, soul, world, jazz en blues.

Dansende Beren Radio, je wekelijkse uurtje nieuwe muziek waar zelfs beren van gaan dansen. En pinguïns. Ik zag twee beren samen dansen! Dansende Beren is het wekelijks uurtje nieuwe muziektips aangeboden door de mannen en vrouwen van dansendeberen.be.

Dansende Beren is een Belgische muzieksite. Populair en met smaak.  Geen specifieke voorkeur voor een bepaald genre, maar muziek waar zelfs beren op dansen, en zoals we allemaal weten hebben beren geen specifieke voorkeur. De beren proberen de belangrijkste nieuwe muzikale ontdekkingen of gewoon leuke nummers te posten. En die hoor je in Dansende Beren Radio terug.

Rockband Ten Times A Million vanaf vanavond gewoon op ‘Takeover Tour’

De Nederlands/Duitse indie rockformatie TEN TIMES A MILLION begint vanavond aan een nieuwe tour. De Takeover Tour. In deze rare en zware tijd voor velen is deze tour vooral bedoeld als positief signaal. Gedupeerden helpen gedupeerden, voor en door elkaar met solidariteit en loyaliteit als drijfveren.

 

Kan dat zomaar? Is het onverantwoord of naïef? Welnee, het betreft een social media tour! Vanuit de eigen studio/oefenruimte van de band zullen de heren – op gepaste afstand van elkaar – live concerten gaan geven op verschillende social media kanalen van diverse partners, bedrijven, zalen, festivals en vrienden van de band.

 

De vijfmans formatie die onlangs nog werd uitgeroepen tot 3FM talent bracht in februari haar nieuwste single ‘Bye’ uit. Een track die werd opgenomen met Nothing but Thieves gitarist Dom Craik en producer Julian Emery. Het nummer kwam afgelopen vrijdag ook op nummer 57 voor in de Klomp top 100 van 3FM.

 

Alle concerten (audio en video) tijdens de tour zijn gratis te bezoeken via de diverse social media kanalen, het betreft concerten van een half uur tot een uur. Naast de vaste waardes zal de set iedere show ook verschillen en is er ruimte voor interactie met het publiek.

Ten Times a Million is een Nederlands/Duitse alternatieve rock band. Het vijftal combineert filmische sferen met catchy hooks en aanstekelijke riffs. Naast dampende rockers komen gevoelige, kleine liedjes voorbij in het materiaal. De band nam de afgelopen periode diverse tracks op met Nothing but Thieves gitarist Dom Craik, producer Julian Emery (Nothing but Thieves, Gavin deGraw) en engineer/mixer Adam Noble (Placebo, Biffy Clyro). ‘Bye’. Is de nieuwste single, afkomstig van de EP ‘Born Tomorrow’ die later dit jaar zal verschijnen.

RVG – Christian Neurosurgeon

Melbourne band RVG reveal new single and video ‘Christian Neurosurgeon’ from forthcoming album Feral out April 24th on Fire Records.

The second offering from RVG‘s new album, the new video sees the band donning scrubs and reaching for the scalpels in a Twilight Zone-style spooker.

“It’s a very simple song about cognitive dissonance. It’s not just a song about bagging Christianity, its more about how we have to hold onto certain ideas to be able to survive, even if they’re not true.” Romy Vager (RVG)

Directed by Caity Moloney and Tom Mannion of Lazy Susan Productions, the video features the band in a dark and twisted, neuro nightmare. Romy Vager plays a brain that won’t die at the hands of drummer Marc Nolte and his faithful assistants, band members Reuban Bloxham and Isabele Wallace.

“The video was very fun to make for us and hopefully the band too – even though we put them in some pretty weird situations. We just embraced the song and went full surgical horror, using hand developed black and white 16mm film so the video feels almost as lo fi as the medical operation RVG are running in it. It was shot by our DOP Jesse Gohier-Fleet, who did an amazing job making every frame as spooky as possible. We’ve watched the video a lot and still laugh every time so thanks to RVG for bringing the comedy gold!” Lazy Susan Productions

Feral is the follow up to their critically acclaimed 2017 debut A Quality of Mercy. RVG perform the tricky alchemy of combining rock’s urgency, punk’s anarchy, and pop’s empathy to create a record that feels vital – a catharsis, a call to arms, and a forthright indictment of contemporary complacency.

Feral was recorded at Head Gap Studios with producer Victor Van Vugt (PJ Harvey, Nick Cave & The Bad Seeds, Beth Orton) and is their eagerly awaited full-length release in three years.
