Spring is de nieuwe single van de Rotterdamse band GGGOLDDD, afkomstig van het album ‘This Shame Should Not Be Mine’ dat vandaag uitkomt. Ze spelen 5 april in TivoliVredenburg met Amenra. Check hier de video:
“‘Spring’ is about the moment right after the assault. I knew something was wrong, but I was still in shock, so I tried to make sense of it all. I remember opening the curtains and being surprised by the sun and the activity of people in the streets. I was struck with the harsh reality of other people just living their lives as usual. While mine came to a stand still, like someone cast a spell on me.
Together with Iris Schuttevaar/Rauwkost Collective we made this visually striking video to capture this. The video is a reference to Sleeping Beauty. A fairytale that, like almost every other fairy tale, is misogynistic and heteronormative. Sleeping beauty does not give consent to be kissed. There are better stories to tell our children.” aldus GGGOLDDD.
De muziek werd afgelopen jaar voor het eerst live gespeeld als ‘commissioned work’ voor de online Roadburn Redux. Op 22 april speelt de band het album integraal op het toonaangevende Tilburgse festival, met een uitgebreide bezetting. Milena Eva en Thomas Sciarone van GGGOLDDD zijn er dit jaar ook curator.
