Pale Puma – I Don’t Wanna Be Strange

Pale Puma has a knack for writing songs that really mooooove.
Take the new single ‘I Don’t Wanna Be Strange’, which does not need long to warm up to take off. Sheets of fleet-footed acoustic guitar are strummed to a blur. Synths whir. A piano purrs. Django Duijn’s Morrissey-esque vocal movements and thoughts take you along in a flight. Above all else, this song’s backbone is the kind of drumbeat that begs to be tapped out on a steering wheel.

Pale Puma is the project of Amsterdam based musician/songwriter Django Duijns. He crafts dreamy pop noir, taking inspiration from hazy modern day pop like Alvvays, Beach Fossils and in equal measure 60’s/70’s legends like George Harrison and Françoise Hardy. His father bought him his first guitar at 16, opening him up to the illuminating world of songwriting. In his songs he captures a melancholic drive, combined with a keen eye for introspection.
