The Tiger Lovemachine

De rete strakke grunge band The Tiger Lovemachine staat garant voor een dampende rock’n roll show. Na de goed ontvangen debuut EP ‘Little Swimmer’ in 2014 (vinyl), volgden er vele optredens. Van de kleinste cafés, vetste festivals tot in een overvol Paradiso! Deden o.a. de support van: Therapy?, White Cowbell Oklahoma, Claw Boys Claw, New Adventures en meer leuke namen. In 2015 werden er 2 singles met clip uitgebracht, die allebei meer dan 100k beluisterd werden via Spotify! Op 5 mei 2018 is het album ‘Spree’ uitgekomen. The Tiger Lovemachine op zijn best, 12 grunge songs die uit een lopen van ingetogen, tot wild en catchy.

Nathan’s Brother’s Spot On; poppy, persoonlijk en muzikaal

Lang verwacht toch gekomen: Nathan’s Brother imponeert met breed en persoonlijk solo-debuut.

Na jaren lang zijn talenten als bassist en gitarist in dienst gesteld te hebben van derden heeft de Haarlemse artiest Nathan’s Brother nu gehoor gegeven aan een lang gekoesterde ambitie, hij heeft een solo-album gemaakt, solo als in alleen, in zijn uppie. Hij zingt uiteraard en schreef alle songs op ‘Spot On’, maar speelt ook alle instrumenten. Daarnaast was hij zijn eigen producer en technicus. Deze huisvlijt heeft geresulteerd in een breed, avontuurlijk maar tegelijk persoonlijk album. Elke track heeft wel iets bijzonders, een accordeon, een exotische Saz of latin percussie. Hoewel de teksten autobiografisch zijn verstaat Nathan’ Brother de kunst zijn woorden zo te kiezen dat menig luisteraar zich er in kan herkennen. Als ‘Spot On’ één ding duidelijk maakt is dat Nathan’s Brother veel eerder solo had moeten gaan. Maar beter laat dan…

VAN ELST new single Daydreamer

After supporting Bauhaus and a year of lockdown, VAN ELST starts off the new year with single ‘Daydreamer’

Releasing his new single ‘Daydreamer’ VAN ELST takes us into the imaginative dreamy hours accompanied by the beautiful ethereal vocals of the American singer songwriter Cosette Gobat.

Last seen on stage opening for Bauhaus with his previous band Desert Mountain Tribe, Dream Pop artist VAN ELST has learned a thing or two from the gothic legends about writing emotional atmospheric songs. The track ‘Daydreamer’ absorbs the listener into the already authentic landscape of the artist, continuing his musical blend of melancholic synth lines, bass heavy electronics, atmospheric dream pop melodies with hints of psychedelia.

Dutch Producer, songwriter and drummer VAN ELST has already carved out a corner of the music-sphere all of his own, with journalists comparing his unsettling brand of electronica to bands as diverse as Joy Division and Crystal Castles.

VAN ELST wrote ‘Daydreamer’ reflecting on a moving year in which he started his project’s journey. Based on vocal melodies inspired by ideas that came to him in a daydream he had while gazing out of the window having existential visualisations of the past the present and the future.

Sampling his vocals turning them into separate melodies and chords he creates an ambience that carries us into a haunting world of both hope and insecurity. After finishing the writing and production proces VAN ELST felt there was something missing to the audio landscape he’d created and therefore contacted American “DIY Experimentalist” and “Dream Pop queen” Cosette Gobat (who previously worked with artists such as The Wombats, Caroline Rose, Ali Barter) to add a beautiful vocal and guitar part to the song which brought extra depth to the sonic dimension.

On a journey to shine a light on the unspoken sides of mental health, VAN ELST hopes his music will create more awareness and understanding of the struggles experienced by many: “Listening to songs that relate to the situation I’m in helps me to process my feelings. With ‘Daydreamer’ I hope to provide a feeling of hope and a similar healing experience for the listener”.

‘Daydreamer’ will be available on all major streaming platforms on the 22nd of January.

Pinguin Showcases online; Streamsonic!

13-14-15-16 jan. een online festival met meer dan 200 aanstormende acts uit Europa.

Pinguin showcases, het gratis festival dat jaarlijks plaatsvindt tijdens ESNS in café De Drie Gezusters op de Grote Markt in Groningen is in korte tijd uitgegroeid tot een invloedrijk en breed gewaardeerd platform voor aanstormend talent uit Europa. Helaas kan ook Pinguin Showcases om de welbekende reden niet doorgaan. Tenminste niet in de oorspronkelijke vorm.

STREAMSONIC!
Er is echter een alternatief bedacht. Pinguin Showcases gaat online en wordt Streamsonic; https://www.streamsonic.nl. Het principe blijft hetzelfde. I.s.m. Nederlandse muziekopleidingen, boekingskantoren, popkoepels, managementbureaus en festivals geeft Pinguin Radio talent, dat zich veelal nog in de opbouwende fase van hun carrière bevindt, een kans om zich in de kijker te spelen van publiek en professionals, gearriveerde uitzonderingen daargelaten…

IN NO TIME: VOL PROGRAM
De animo voor het online festival is enorm. De programmering was binnen de kortste keren rond. Het aanbod bestaat voor het leeuwendeel uit speciaal voor Streamsonic opgenomen (corona-proof) sessies.

De opzet is die van een ‘gewoon’ festival. Er wordt gewerkt met blokkenschema’s. Kijkers hebben de keus uit zes streams, die thuis vanuit de luie stoel kunnen worden bekeken via https://www.streamsonic.nl.

ER VALT EEN HOOP TE WINNEN
Kijkers kunnen hun waardering uiten door hun favorieten een ‘clap’ te geven of een comment achter te laten. Fans die zo feedback geven, maken kans op het “De Drie Gezusters-Arrangement”: een weekend heerlijk corona-proof logeren in het meest karakteristieke hotel op de Grote Markt in hartje Groningen. De act die het meeste applaus krijgt (claps), krijgt een waardebon van € 500 van Key Music.

Eddie Solomon’s Single “Down There” is uit!

De eerste single van Eddie Solomon is uit! In deze donkere wintermaanden brengt deze Apeldoornse solo-artiest twee spiksplinternieuwe duistere en maatschappijkritische nummers uit.

Na een proces van jaren muziek maken en schrijven is dit de geboorte van zijn eerste muzikale product. Teruggrijpend naar een verleden dat niet altijd even rooskleurig is geweest. Eddie heeft in de aanloop van het schrijven verscheidene van zijn oude muzikale ideeën nieuw leven ingeblazen en nam deze als basis voor zijn debuut als solo-artiest.

Zo’n eerste single is op zich een heel fragiel iets, maar Eddie Solomon houdt zijn emoties niet in, met een beslagen gitaar, een krachtige oprechte stem en een huilende viool zet hij zich stevig neer in een akoestische genre van melancholische pop met een grimmig randje.

Het artwork van deze single vormt een doeltreffende afspiegeling van de duisternis en de schaduwzijde die aan alles kleeft (fotograaf Jan Bouwkamp): een gepijnigd gezicht voor de helft in duisternis gehuld.
