Symfonische rockband Within Temptation bevestigd voor Paaspop 2019

Nóg meer reden om een ticket voor Paaspop 2019 onder de kerstboom te leggen: ook ‘s lands meest succesvolle symfonische rockband Within Temptation is nu bevestigd als één van de headliners die volgend jaar in Paaspops indoor stadion Apollo zullen optreden.

Postmen o.a. naar Volt, Paradiso, Metropool, Victorie, De Helling en de Vorstin

Postmen, de vaandeldrager van de Nederlandse hiphop en reggae cultuur, gaat op tour! Door veertien podia in Nederland en België speelt Postmen het nieuwe repertoire én de klassiekers. Een vet feest gegarandeerd!

Als artiest, songwriter en producer is frontman The Anonymous Mis (Remon Stotijn) is de drijvende kracht achter de groep. In 2018 bestaat de Postmen sound 20 jaar. Dat wordt gevierd met de release van Stotijn’s eerste muziek project sinds 7 jaar, genaamd Love Me or Love Me Not. Het is een verhaal over the dark side en balans van “love in life, family and business”.

POSTMEN
Postmen kwam aan het eind van de jaren negentig uit met de succesvolle plaat Documents, waar een golf van grote hits uit voort kwamen. Documents was de eerste hiphop/reggae plaat die een platina status in Nederland wist te behalen op basis van de singles ‘Cocktail’, ‘Crisis’ en ‘U Wait’. De Postmen sound domineerde de hitlijsten en Documents werd een cultureel fenomeen.

Remon Stotijn staat bekend om zijn karakteristieke sound, met aanstekelijke melodieën, originele baslijnen en positieve energie. Sinds 1998 heeft Stotijn zeven studio albums gemaakt. Met de Postmen-sound, die dit jaar twee decennia bestaat, heeft hij vele prijzen gewonnen in de Nederlandse muziekindustrie waaronder de Grote Popprijs en een Zilveren Harp.

Coldplay – Live In Buenos Aires (Parlophone/Warner)

coldplayMijlpaal voor de band, want de dubbelaar Live In Buenos Aires betekent de eerste keer dat Coldplay een concert in zijn geheel uitbrengt. In november 2017 vond het optreden in de Argentijnse hoofdstad plaats, in het Estadio Ciudad de La Plata. Een geliefde locatie voor de groten der aarde, met zijn capaciteit van zo’n 50.000 toeschouwers. Zo gaven ook onder meer The Rolling Stones, Paul McCartney, Depeche Mode, U2, Metallica en Pearl Jam er acte de présence.

Coldplay speelt een staalkaart uit haar oeuvre, dat nogal wat stadionfähige nummers blijkt te bevatten. Chris Martin en consorten hebben het Grote Gebaar dan ook nooit geschuwd. Soms dreigt dat wat uit de hand te lopen, wanneer Paradise uitmondt in een danceversie, compleet met autotune. Dan wordt zelfs het uitzinnige publiek in het stadion overschreeuwd. Toch, het werkt, omdat het aanstekelijk is, opzwepend en smaakvol wordt toegepast. Met het kleine liedje Always In My Head, dat compositorisch niet tot het belangrijkste behoort wat Coldplay op plaat heeft gezet, wordt de massa weer tot rust gebracht. Maar dat grote gebaar van de heren pakt wel vaker aardig uit, zo krijgt God Put A Smile Upon Your Face een stampvoetende, licht versnelde aanpak, die ook wonderwel goed uit de verf komt. Tussen de nummers door bedient Martin zijn gehoor van Spaanse teksten, roemt hij de dames en is dirigent van een massaal olé, olé, olé, terwijl ook de oh, oh, ohs niet van de lucht zijn, al heeft de band die zelf in haar songs geschreven.

Zo nu en dan worden de Britten wel héél erg overschreeuwd door de massa en had daar productietechnisch nog wel wat aan geschaafd kunnen worden. Rik Simpson zat al zes platen van Coldplay achter de knoppen en laat de muziek zo nu en dan verzuipen in het kabaal van de dolgelukkige Argentijnen. Een haastklus kan niet worden uitgesloten, hoewel de aanwezige Argentijnen daar vast schijt aan zullen hebben wanneer ze zichzelf zo luid en duidelijk terughoren. Pieter Visscher

Primeur: Matt Perriment – Oceans

De Londense indie/folk artiest Matt Perriment bracht in 2017 zijn succesvolle debuut EP Everlast uit en heeft zichzelf de afgelopen jaren gevestigd in de Engelse festival scène. Oceans is zijn nieuwe single en gaat over de uitdaging en realiteit van een lange afstandsrelatie, waarbij genieten op de momenten dat je elkaar wél ziet de belangrijkste boodschap is.

Matt Perriment zijn debuut EP Everlast uit 2017 leverde hem twee uitverkochte headline shows in Londen op en vier internationale headline- en supporttours. Tijdens zijn tours speelde hij zestien shows in Nieuw-Zeeland, opende hij voor Nina June in Paradiso, voor HAEVN in TivoliVredenburg en speelde hij in Nederland, Duitsland en Zwitserland met Josh Savage. Zijn nieuwe EP Memos staat gepland voor 2019 via V2 Records.
