AUXR – Plastic Love

A 15 year veteran of the nudisco and italo scene with many releases, remixes and international DJ gigs as Auxiliary tha Masterfader, introduces a new downtempo project as part of a personal search for the sound that defines him today.

In 2021, Auke Riemersma rediscovered his love for downtempo sounds & tracks released by labels like Mo’ Wax, Wall of Sound and Warp. This new chapter in his career resulted in a new alias, AUXR and the ‘Suite of Flow’ EP release in the summer of 2022. The three instrumental tracks, ‘Canada’, ‘Dope’ and ‘Enjoy the Sounds’ are filled with organic trip hop beats, deep bass lines, legato synths & strings woven into a warm and slightly distorted production.

Captivated by the power of collaborations, AUXR is working on separate single releases with outstanding talented singers. The first release in this series is ‘Plastic Love’, a seductive tune with a catchy chorus and impeccable production, written together with Icelandic singer Stina Ágústsdóttir.

Bij uitkomen van de nieuwe editie Musicmaker ziet ook het album Barefoot On Diamond Road het levenslicht, het derde album van Amber Arcades, oftewel Annelotte de Graaf. Ze werkte wederom samen met producer Ben Greenberg. Amber in Musicmaker over de samenwerking: ‘Mijn demo’s zijn superbasaal. Alleen gitaar en zang, omdat ik slecht ben in opnameprogramma’s. Ik heb ook geen fancy mics, dus ze zijn superkaal. Ik stuur ze naar Ben in New York en we hebben dus op afstand maar in heel goede samenspraak opgenomen. We hebben een bijzondere samenwerking en het voelt in sync. Alles mag gezegd worden. Hij heeft een bepaald idee, daar krijg ik weer een idee van en zo kom je in een soort workflow. Alles leidt tot een volgende stap en er gaan veel ideeën beide kanten op.’ Matt Chamberlain op drums, toruwens!

Pinguin Radio presenteert om 22:00 uur Heaven Radio #359

Pinguin Radio en Popmagazine Heaven delen twee belangrijke eigenschappen: een passie voor goede muziek en een volstrekt onafhankelijke opstelling. Dat moest natuurlijk tot een samenwerking leiden.

Heaven verzorgt iedere dinsdagavond van 22:00 tot 23:00 een uur lang de muziek op Pinguin Radio. Net als Pinguin heeft Heaven oor voor – bijna – alle popmuziek. In het uurtje radio hoor je muziek uit verschillende genres: (classic)rock, roots, folk, soul, world, jazz en blues.

Ik vond het een heel vet idee om dat te doen, maar dan met nieuwe songs die één lang verhaal vertellen dat ook weer alle kanten op vliegt. Nu we het live spelen, merk ik dat het zó vrij is.
