Het Australische vijftal van de ‘energetic, punky and psychedelic’ rock band The Murlocs opereert vanuit Melbourne en “Rapscallion” is alweer hun zesde studio-album die nu uit is. Met leden uit bands als Orb, King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard, Crepes en Beans kun je The Murlocs waarachtig een ‘dynamic musical collective’ noemen en ‘strapped with fuzzy guitar licks, feverish bass-lines and psychedelic brightness’ bevat hun nieuwe album ‘an ultimate mix of bluesy feelgood, laidback stoner, fun punk and catchy 60’s tinged rock’! Bellarine Ballerina is de nieuwe single en de rockt in alle hoeken van de kamer!

The Smashing Pumpkins – Beguiled
De legendarische Amerikaanse rockband The Smashing Pumpkins heeft vandaag hun gloednieuwe single Beguiled uitgebracht. De single is het eerste voorproefje van de band’s langverwachte 12e studioalbum ATUM dat volgend jaar in april verschijnt. Dit album is een heus meesterwerk dat bestaat uit maar liefst 33 tracks die verdeeld over 11 tracks per keer op 3 momenten wordt uitgebracht.

Eerste artiesten bevestigd voor fysieke editie ESNS
ESNS (Eurosonic Noorderslag) kondigt de eerste 33 acts voor haar 37e editie aan. ESNS23 zal de eerste fysieke editie zijn na twee volledig digitale edities. De organisatie kijkt er enorm naar uit haar bezoekers weer in Groningen te kunnen verwelkomen in Januari 2023. Festival tickets zijn te verkrijgen vanaf vrijdag 23 september.
Eerste namen bevestigd voor ESNS23
33 opkomende artiesten zijn bevestigd voor ESNS.
Voor Noorderslag, traditioneel de staalkaart van de Nederlandse popmuziek, zijn de eerste vijf namen aangekondigd; Gotu Jim (nl), Katnuf (nl), Natte Visstick (nl), Nusantara Beat (nl) en The Jordan (nl).
Europese artiesten presenteren zich op Eurosonic, waarvoor de eerste namen bekend zijn gemaakt. Onder de eerste serie namen is een selectie gemaakt in samenwerking met NPO 3FM en de Europese nationale radiostations, verenigd in de EBU (European Broadcasting Union). De tot nu toe bevestigde acts voor Eurosonic zijn; Adwaith (gb), Aiko (cz), Anna Erhard (ch), Árný Margrét (is), Aze (at), Club Makumba (pt), Deki Alem (se), Eliza Legzdina (lv), Freekind (si), Hammok (no), Ivi (ee), Joya Marleen (ch), Kety Fusco (ch), Kids Return (fr), KOIKOI (rs), Leepa (de), Madame (it), Maz (lu), Monikaze (lt), Nina Kohout (sk), Rori (be), Schmyt (de), Selló (ie), Son Mieux (nl), The Haunted Youth (be), Tom Lennon (fi), Varnish La Piscine (ch) en Vlure (gb).

Pinguin Radio presenteert om 22:00 uur Heaven Radio #339
Pinguin Radio en Popmagazine Heaven delen twee belangrijke eigenschappen: een passie voor goede muziek en een volstrekt onafhankelijke opstelling. Dat moest natuurlijk tot een samenwerking leiden.
Heaven verzorgt iedere dinsdagavond van 22:00 tot 23:00 een uur lang de muziek op Pinguin Radio. Net als Pinguin heeft Heaven oor voor – bijna – alle popmuziek. In het uurtje radio hoor je muziek uit verschillende genres: (classic)rock, roots, folk, soul, world, jazz en blues.

From 12:00 until 18:00 this plug & play festival takes place in the bustling music heart of Amsterdam: The Q-factory! The only thing you need to bring are your guitar, keys, cymbals and beater. Plug it in (backline is completely present) and play your best set in half an hour. There are 10 stages, and there will be around 60 bands on the bill. The festival takes place in the basement of The Q-Factory. The spacious rehearsal rooms will be transformed into stages. There are also kick-ass workshops to help you out with your music career!

Derde track Nikki Lane “Born Tough” van Denim & Diamonds
Na haar zeer geslaagde derde plaat Highway Queen sloegen bij Nikki Lane de twijfels hard toe. Wilde ze nog wel een nieuw album maken, had ze zin om weer op tournee te gaan? Nee, eigenlijk niet. Totdat ze telefonisch kennismaakte met de geniale Josh Homme, leider van Queens Of The Stone Age. Die wilde dolgraag met haar de studio in. Hij bracht wat QOTSA-bandleden mee en de drummers van de Arctic Monkeys en Autolux. Het resultaat is Denim & Diamonds, een waarlijk fantastische powerpop-plaat, gedrenkt in psychedelica en country. Hier komen twee grote liefdes van Lane samen: The 13th Floor Elevators en Loretta Lynn. Tien geweldige eigen songs, met als uitschieter het meesterlijke titelnummer. Nikki Lane en Joshua Homme blijkt een gouden combi te zijn.
