Pinguin Radio Showcases draait maar om één ding en dat is het etaleren van nieuwe artiesten. Ook hier in ons Magazine showcasen we telkens een aantal artiesten die je gezien of gemist hebt op het festival tijdens ESNS in De Drie Gezusters.
Hoofs – Pinguin Radio Showcases 19 januari – Q-factory Stage Back

Muziek die dwars door je trommelvliezen trapt. De bandnaam HOOFS kan niet toepasselijker zijn. Op de scherpe randen van punk, post-punk en noise balancerende snijdende gitaren, gruizige baslijnen, zang die je bij de strot grijpt en stompende drums die nog even benadrukken waar die naam vandaan komt.
Inmiddels 2 EP’s opgenomen met Daan Duurland (o.a. Tramhaus, Vulva, Kalaallit Nunaat en Marathon) in Studio Katzwijm en druk bezig met de voorbereidingen van EP nummer 3. In het najaar van 2023 geselecteerd voor Popronde waarin ze een hele reeks shows hebben gespeeld als Never Mind The Hype talent.

Anyone who believes the blues is dead should come and check out Five Dollar Shake. This five-piece rock monster from Utrecht, the Netherlands is breathing new life into the genre with hurricane force.
Five Dollar Shake gives that good old blues rock a brand new sparkly coat. What does it sound like? Soulful, heavy and bluesy. With a cherry on top! That cherry is singer Lucinda Legaspi. An indomitable front woman, blessed with a fantastic voice. Add some rumbling guitars, a ripping Hammond organ and a good dose of fun, and you’ve got the irresistible sound of Five Dollar Shake. “That’s a pretty fuckin’ good shake!”

Al een aantal jaren volgt de undergroundste band van Nederland zijn eigen weg. Onverstoorbaar en compromisloos. Het levert een unieke stijl op.
Platomania schreef: Strak, stuiterend, eigenzinnig en energiek rauzen ze door een eigen repertoire van (garage)rock met in ieder nummer minstens één en vaker meer eigenaardigheden waar je zeker bij nadere beluistering rechtop van gaat zitten.

Deep but approachable, varied but melodic. That’s the motto of The Violet Parade. With a rich palet of influences, this band from Amsterdam/Leiden plays catchy indierock. With dynamic songs filled with catchy choruses and surprising transitions, this new band is ready to conquer the Netherlands.
The Violet Parade combines the dreamy style of Slowdive with the dynamics of Foals and the rough edges of Joy Division. But they have an unmistakable sound all their own, melodic and compelling. Accessible, but never predictable.
