Dizzy Panda, a independent producer duo hailing from Haarlem, the Netherlands, has joined forces with the eclectic indie rock band, The Perics, bridging the gap between the UK and the Netherlands. Bonded by their shared admiration for the legendary band Eels, this has blossomed into a fun and exciting collaboration project.
It all began with an initial demo crafted by Dizzy Panda, “Mad Maggie” about the crew of the Flying Dutchmen. The Perics (Matt Warren & Gideau ‘Gee’ Nielssen) breathed life into the project. The magic was undeniable, prompting the decision to elevate this collaboration to – a full-fledged album. The album is now ready for launch with 12 tracks and a release date set on March 8th. The girl band Younique (who featured in The Voice Holland) also feature in one of the tracks.
PENTAPOLIS
The album is titled “Pentapolis”. The title itself draws inspiration from the concept of Pentapolis, a grouping of five cities. This metaphor resonates deeply as we crafted this album without ever setting foot in a physical studio together.
The concept of Pentapolis finds its roots in the lesser-known play by William Shakespeare, “Pericles, Prince of Tyre.” In this timeless tale, Prince Pericles embarks on a courageous and adventurous journey, facing shipwrecks, encounters with pirates, and the loss of loved ones. Pericles was a Greek politician and general during the Golden age of Ancient Greece. Pericles’ most visible legacy can be found in the literary and artistic works of the Golden Age, much of which survive to this day.
The tracks on the album “Pentapolis” draw inspiration from Pericles’ odyssey. The music reflects the diverse influences of both bands, spanning across genres from rock and jazz to pop and funk.

Kickstarter project for vinyl:

About the artists:
Dizzy Panda are Mike & Mool. A masked DIY duo from Haarlem (NL). Their biggest succes so far is to have 2 songs in the snob2000 (edition 2023), one in a collab with the Dutch band Chabliz. They love to work with all kind of artists and genres and have released 4 albums so far (lounge, triphop, funk, jazz).
The Perics are a brit pop band from Liverpool (UK) by Matt Warren and Gee Nelson (Giedeau Nelissen). The Perics try to focus on great melodies and don’t care that much in which genre. It varies from rock to power pop to pop rock to singer songwriter to grunge to synth punk pop.

25 nieuwe namen voor Dauwpop
Vandaag presenteert het tweedaagse festival Dauwpop haar tweede reeks acts, die op 31 mei en 1 juni in de bossen van Hellendoorn te zien zullen zijn. De line-up is fors uitgebreid met zowel nationale als internationale acts. DI-RECT, The Kooks en Son Mieux voeren de vijfentwintig nieuwe namen aan. Eerder werd al bekendgemaakt dat onder andere De Jeugd van Tegenwoordig, Froukje, Dinosaur Jr. en Kraantje Pappie zullen optreden.
Met de toevoeging van The Kooks haalt Dauwpop een mooie internationale naam binnen, een band die al bijna twintig jaar onderweg is en ondertussen een nieuwe generatie fans aan zich weet te binden. Son Mieux, uit Den Haag die vorig jaar het publiek betoverde, keert op de vrijdag voor de derde keer terug op het podium van Dauwpop. Met het bijna 25-jarige bestaan van DI-RECT, staat deze band klaar om op de Dauwpop-stage te gaan rocken.
Maar liefst 25 nieuwe namen
De nieuwe lijst met toevoegingen staat vol met spraakmakende acts uit zowel binnen- als buitenland. DI-RECT, The Kooks, Son Mieux, Paul Elstak, Ghostwoman, GIRLBAND, Gallus, Dool, Outsiders, Freddy Moreira, Johan, The Southern River Band, Nova Twins, Albin Lee Meldau, Whispering Sons, Sera, Bilal Wahib en Bizzey. De volgende nieuwe namen Master Peace, Lambrini Girls, The Indien, Roxy Dekker, The Vices, Rens, Jaïr & Ome Uncle en Droom Dit waren al te zien op Eurosonic Noorderslag afgelopen maand, en deze kun je straks ontdekken in de bossen van Hellendoorn.
Dauwpop is dé plek waar namen spelen die verdienen om ontdekt te worden. En het wordt nog beter. Er komen nog meer namen na deze tweede golf aan acts, wat betekent dat de line-up nog voller en verrassender wordt. Dauwpop-directeur Rob Telgenkamp is enthousiast over de toevoeging van meer dan 25 namen aan de reeds aangekondigde line-up. “Na het winnen van de Publieksprijs voor Beste Festival in 2023, zijn we ons bewust van de verwachtingen van onze bezoekers. We hebben het aan hen te danken en doen stinkend ons best om onszelf te overtreffen.”

Donderdag van 9 tot 10 ’s avonds hoor je op Musicmaker Radio muziek die bij de nieuwste editie van Musicmaker hoort, het magazine voor de muzikant.
In de januari-februari editie van Musicmaker vind je tal van artikelen, interviews en tests die je als muzikant of producer zullen inspireren! Artiesten als The Jordan en Elmer geven een inkijkje in hoe zij songs schrijven, opnemen en live spelen. Eerste namen Lowlands zijn bekend
Wie komen in 2024 naar Biddinghuizen? Na een overweldigende show op Pinkpop vorig jaar zien we Queens of the Stone Age ook terug op Lowlands! Verder kijken we uit naar Big Thief en is het side-project van Radiohead genaamd The Smile ook eentje om naar uit te kijken. Als je van punk houdt kom je met IDLES en Sleaford Mods goed aan je trekken.
Een huh momentje is Sugababes op de affiche. Maar dat wordt vast een feestje met nostalgische pophits. Er valt sowieso genoeg te dansen met acts als Hudson Mohawke, Skrillex, Maribou State, Romy, Jungle By Night en Soulwax.
Een andere opvallende naam is oldskool hiphopper Nas. Andere urban acts zijn Denzel Curry, Jorja Smith, Sampha en Sticks.
Een aantal Eurosonic hoogtepunten komen ook naar A Campingflight; Fat Dog die onlangs de IJsbreker scoorde en ook University gaat herrieschoppen in de polder.
Uit de Benelux zien we o.a. festivalfavorieten Froukje, Goldband, Ramkot, Spinvis, Lander & Adriaan en HAEVN.
