Record Store Day Nederland, met de onafhankelijke platenzaak als middelpunt, breidt haar activiteiten met de Vinyl33, verder uit.
Op Pinguin Radio draaien we elke week zo veel mogelijk nieuwe releases, de hoogste nieuwe binnenkomer, de klimmer van de week en uiteraard veel tracks uit de top 10.
Vinyl 33 is een wekelijkse chart voor de werkelijke vinylverkopen in Nederland. De lijst wordt samengesteld door onderzoeksbureau Gfk Nederland, tevens uitgever van de Dutch Charts. De Gfk-cijfers geven een representatief beeld van alle albums die op vinyl verkocht worden in heel Nederland.

dj detour’s 8th full-length track “Night Club” kicks off a thrilling listening experience with a bass heavy hook and a bouncy EDM bridge both inspired by Daft Punk, rising to an electric crescendo that is already resonating with listeners from around the world even through the track was released only a week ago.
The song’s intense lyrical interplay and energetic vocal flow make “Night Club” a compelling underground hit. So far, dj detour’s music has been featured by a wide variety of Spotify playlists, radio stations, and media outlets including Vitrola Play, Music Connoisseur, Alt Music Radio, Melodic Vibe(s), Groover Radio, and Musicalizar from Brazil. Several music publications will be writing articles about dj detour’s tracks later this year including Tracklist from Brazil, Certified Bop Magazine, and Provo Music Magazine among others.
dj detour is an underground music producer going live in Miami and Tampa this year with original tracks and rave-ready remixes, currently working on a double album featuring a dubstep fusion of musical genres. “Night Club” is a brand new EDM/Grime fusion released on June 9th, and the first of his tracks to feature full vocals and overdub techniques that will frequent his future recordings.

Wolfskop pals Wannes, Daan, Marcin and Erik join hands again after eight years, because sometimes stuff is inevitable to happen.
Their new single ‘Parasites’ was written in a dark cough and a sigh of frustration on power trips and greed. Expect an energetic, monstrous heavy rock track with delicious riffs, tasteful multi-voiced vocals, and insanely amazing drums. If this doesn’t blow you away, we don’t know what will.

Na comebackalbum ‘BCCIV’ werd het stil rond Black Country Communion, de supergroep van onder meer Joe Bonamassa en zanger-bassist Glenn Hughes. Er kwam een pauze van zeven jaar, dus je zou ‘V’ een tweede comebackalbum kunnen noemen. Gelukkig is het een uitstekend album. Het klinkt wat urgenter van ‘BCCIV’, de refreinen zijn beter en het is duidelijk dat er veel chemie is tussen de heren. Bonamassa klinkt nergens zo als een hardrockgitarist uit de jaren zeventig als bij Black Country Communion. De productie van Kevin Shirley klinkt alsof je bij de band in de ruimte staat. Vroeger zong Bonamassa enkele nummers, maar Hughes zingt hier alle nummers en klinkt aanmerkelijk jonger dan zijn 72 jaar. Komende zondag vindt in de Haarlemse Haarlemmerhout het Houtfestival plaats met verrassende acts. We laten er drie horen. Lenhart Tapes is een ‘eenmans-cassette-manipulator’ uit Servië. Walkmans zijn zijn muziekinstrumenten en hij maakt live een mix van geselecteerd materiaal uit zijn cassettecollectie bovenop originele ritmische loops. Alex Figueira smelt Afrikaanse, Caribische en Latijns-Amerikaanse ritmes samen met elektronica en invloeden uit psychedelica. Djam! is het muzikale monsterverbond tussen twee meestergitaristen Joep Pelt en Bounaly Traoré. Houtfestival, Haarlemmerhout, Haarlem, zondag 18 juni, 13.00-23.00

Pinguin Radio en Popmagazine Heaven delen twee belangrijke eigenschappen: een passie voor goede muziek en een volstrekt onafhankelijke opstelling. Dat moest natuurlijk tot een samenwerking leiden.
Heaven verzorgt iedere dinsdagavond van 22:00 tot 23:00 een uur lang de muziek op Pinguin Radio. Net als Pinguin heeft Heaven oor voor – bijna – alle popmuziek. In het uurtje radio hoor je muziek uit verschillende genres: (classic)rock, roots, folk, soul, world, jazz en blues.

Misty Fields maakt line-up compleet met o.a. Nusantara Beat en Water From Your Eyes
Het festivalseizoen is in volle gang en daarom heeft Misty Fields, de alternatieve muzikale hoogmis van het Zuiden, zojuist haar line-up compleet gemaakt met de laatste vier namen. Het Amsterdamse Nusantara Beat, Water From Your Eyes, de Ierse electro-noise band YARD en het Utrechtse FIT voegen zich bij o.a. Crack Cloud, Nation Of Language, Warmduscher en Pigsx7.
Het driedaags festival Misty Fields vindt dit jaar plaats op vrijdag 6 tot en met zondag 8 september nabij natuurgebied ‘De Groote Peel’ in Asten/Heusden (onder de rook van Eindhoven). Het sympathieke ontdek-festival heeft zich de laatste jaren stevig op de kaart gezet in muziek-liefhebbend Nederland. Het festival, met een neusje voor nieuw talent, weet al jaren de fijnste internationale en nationale alternatieve bands zoals Shame, Protomartyr, Gilla Band, The Murlocs, The Murder Capital en nieuwste ontdekkingen naar Asten/Heusden te halen.
En niet onverdienstelijk, want steeds meer muzikale fijnproevers en liefhebbers van sfeervolle festivallocaties weten de weg naar Misty Fields te vinden. Naast nieuwe muziek presenteert het festival ook beeldende kunst, theater en ander knotsgek vermaak. De sfeervolle, bosrijke festivallocatie en het uitgebreide aanbod aan eten & drinken maken de unieke festivalervaring compleet.

Misty Fields vindt dit jaar plaats op vrijdag 6 tot en met zondag 8 september nabij natuurgebied ‘De Groote Peel’ in Asten/Heusden (onder de rook van Eindhoven).
