Kaminski signs with AudioSport Records

On September 16th Kaminski’s debut album My Diary Lied will be released via AudioSport Records, Leeuwarden. ‘A dark and personal manifesto, with an urgency that needs to be heard,’ the label explains. ‘As a label, we focus on the Frisian indie and rock scene and we have a weakness for music that is heartfelt and honest. Kaminski fits right in here’.

The 10-track album was recorded during the corona lockdown in Kaminski’s garage. In the safety of his quarantine, fanning out old photographs, searching for the meaning of childhood anxiety dreams, and exploring perpetual inhibitions that had been characterizing him for years, a clear but gloomy central theme emerged: the struggles of a child growing up in a religious cult. Musically, Kaminski navigates between indie, slowcore, and elements of prog rock.

The album My Diary Lied will be released on vinyl by AudioSport Records, and will also be available via all streaming platforms.

Abramo Abramo – Speedboat

Abramo Abramo is het nieuwe muzikale project van Bram Kniest (drummer Go Back To The Zoo, St. Tropez). Zijn muziek wordt wel omschreven als ‘Ennio Morricone meets Joy Division’. Interessant! In maart verscheen de eerste single A Dream of a Night in Mexico, nu is het de beurt aan single nummer vier ‘Speedboat’. Een lekker bondig rock ‘n roll nummer van Bram!

Bayline – Bleeding Hearts

Bleeding Hearts is out now!

The song is a wake-up call to people rioting without a just purpose. The
“rebel without a cause” lines refer to the Dutch riots of ’21, with the
sudden mob mentality scaring a lot of innocent people.

This is the second single of the upcoming EP, which is set to be released September 23rd in collaboration with White Russian records.

The Vices brengt nieuwe single I Had A Name uit

The Vices zijn terug met hun groovy gloednieuwe single I Had A Name! Met hun mix van indiepop, surf- en garagerock én een uitstekend gevoel voor aanstekelijke melodieën en slimme composities, die ook op deze track te horen zijn, hebben de heren uit Groningen zich binnen no-time op de kaart gezet als één van meest relevante Nederlandse gitaar acts van het moment.

Over de single zegt frontman Floris van Luijtelaar:

“Het is makkelijk om een masker op te zetten en je anders voor te doen dan je eigenlijk bent en ik merkte dat ik soms een schim van mezelf aan het najagen was. Muziek gaat juist over eerlijkheid, dan raakt het je het meest. In dit nummer besefte ik dat er geen splitsing hoeft te zijn tussen wie je bent en hoe je je voordoet. Wees eerlijk, wees open en wees vooral jezelf. Dan kan je rennen hoe hard je wil, maar loop je jezelf nooit voorbij.”

Naast het verschijnen van I Had A Name kondigt de band ook hun nieuwe EP Strange Again aan, die op 16 september wordt uitgebracht en waarvan er eerder dit jaar al de singles Strange Again en Tomorrow I’ll Be zijn uitgekomen. De EP is de opwarmer voor het tweede album van The Vices dat in het eerste kwartaal van volgend jaar verschijnt en de opvolger is van de succesvolle debuutplaat Looking For Faces (2021).

Vorige week stonden The Vices nog op het Hongaarse mega-festival Sziget, en eind deze maand en begin september staat de band in het voorprogramma van Kensington in de Ziggo Dome waar ze eerder al op het podium stonden als voorprogramma van Nothing But Thieves.

The James Brothers have a new release – Judas Iscariot Blues.

Who are the James Brothers? A duo from Cornwall, UK, who have been playing the pubs and clubs for years. In their sets of mainly covers, they introduce self penned songs. These are mainly in a country style and get the crowd going! The James Brothers decided to release them for a bit of fun and that hopefully more people can enjoy their music.

This song focuses on the dilemna some of us face at times, the choice we make and its consequences. It involves betrayal, greed and remorse leading to the ultimate conclusion. The story is based around Judas’s betrayal of Jesus but could resonate with anybody today. It acts as an allegory.

Out on the 19th August on all major platforms.

Solomon – Run (You’ve Got To)

Namen noemen ze niet, maar in het begeleidend schrijven van de platenmaatschappij staat dat Solomon zich heeft weten te verzekeren van de technische assistentie van mensen die eerder o.a. Bastille, Thom Yorke, Björk hebben gemixt en gemastered.

We mogen niet uitsluiten dat de mannen van Solomon diep in de buidel moesten tasten om zulke topkrachten te strikken, maar waarschijnlijker is dat die gewoon enthousiast waren over wat ze hoorden en om die reden met de Limburgers in zee zijn gegaan. En gelijk hebben ze!

Voor een beginnende band, ze hebben pas acht liedjes uit klinkt Run (You’ve Got To) zwaar overtuigend. Nou ja, beginnende band? We horen hier een stel muzikanten dat duidelijk kilometers heeft gemaakt. Dilettanten klinken niet als een jazzy versie van The National.

Run (You’ve Got To) is de tweede single van het eerste album van Solomon dat voor begin volgend jaar staat, maar eerst gaan ze Popronde doen.
