Dizzy Panda, a independent producer duo hailing from Haarlem, the Netherlands, has joined forces with the eclectic indie rock band, The Perics, bridging the gap between the UK and the Netherlands. Bonded by their shared admiration for the legendary band Eels, this has blossomed into a fun and exciting collaboration project.
It all began with an initial demo crafted by Dizzy Panda, “Mad Maggie” about the crew of the Flying Dutchmen. The Perics (Matt Warren & Gideau ‘Gee’ Nielssen) breathed life into the project. The magic was undeniable, prompting the decision to elevate this collaboration to – a full-fledged album. The album is now ready for launch with 12 tracks and a release date set on March 8th. The girl band Younique (who featured in The Voice Holland) also feature in one of the tracks.
PENTAPOLIS
The album is titled “Pentapolis”. The title itself draws inspiration from the concept of Pentapolis, a grouping of five cities. This metaphor resonates deeply as we crafted this album without ever setting foot in a physical studio together.
The concept of Pentapolis finds its roots in the lesser-known play by William Shakespeare, “Pericles, Prince of Tyre.” In this timeless tale, Prince Pericles embarks on a courageous and adventurous journey, facing shipwrecks, encounters with pirates, and the loss of loved ones. Pericles was a Greek politician and general during the Golden age of Ancient Greece. Pericles’ most visible legacy can be found in the literary and artistic works of the Golden Age, much of which survive to this day.
The tracks on the album “Pentapolis” draw inspiration from Pericles’ odyssey. The music reflects the diverse influences of both bands, spanning across genres from rock and jazz to pop and funk.

Kickstarter project for vinyl:

About the artists:
Dizzy Panda are Mike & Mool. A masked DIY duo from Haarlem (NL). Their biggest succes so far is to have 2 songs in the snob2000 (edition 2023), one in a collab with the Dutch band Chabliz. They love to work with all kind of artists and genres and have released 4 albums so far (lounge, triphop, funk, jazz).
The Perics are a brit pop band from Liverpool (UK) by Matt Warren and Gee Nelson (Giedeau Nelissen). The Perics try to focus on great melodies and don’t care that much in which genre. It varies from rock to power pop to pop rock to singer songwriter to grunge to synth punk pop.

Maria Iskariot – Pinguin Radio Showcases 19 januari – Classic / Secret Stage
Maria Iskariot is de patroonheilige van betwistbaar gedrag. Het is half-volwassen vrouwelijke punkrock uit Vlaanderen. Hoopvolle hopeloosheid in lawaaierig strofe, refrein, strofe. Liefde voor de onbeminden, vijgen na Pasen, maar in de eerste plaats een knieval voor de zondaars.
De nummers gaan over opgroeien, niet meer in staat zijn om goed en slecht te onderscheiden, verward zijn door jezelf en de condities van deze tijd. Het gaat over het anders willen, maar niet weten hoe – en uiteindelijk beseffen dat ook jijzelf een welwillende klootzak bent.
Blackrockstar – Pinguin Radio Showcases 19 januari – Slachthuis Stage
BlackRockStar is Rapper/Zanger, Auteur en Talentcoach Rivelino Rigters. Vanaf zijn 14e begon hij songteksten te schrijven na het horen van een cd-opname van een klasgenoot en die het vuur aanstak.
Geïnspireerd door groepen en artiesten als Public Enemy, Ice Cube en Michael Jackson. Na zijn bekering op 16-jarige leeftijd had hij de wens om de Gospel te delen via muziek. Op 17-jarige leeftijd vond hij voor het eerst zijn weg naar de podia met gospelkoor de Go Gang. In deze groep ontdekte hij zijn passie voor live optreden en begon een passie te ontwikkelen voor het schrijven van zijn eigen liedjes.
Lionite – Pinguin Radio Showcases 19 januari – Secret Stage
We are Lionite, a high-energy pop rock band from Leeuwarden. We started creating music together in April 2023, and have since written a great variety of songs that we are incredibly proud of. We create music with a unique blend of pop melodies and rock grit, driven by strong basslines, catchy vocals, solid guitar solos, and driving rhythms.

Harley Francine – Pinguin Radio Showcases 19 januari – Q Factory Stage Back
Emerging from the untamed East of the Netherlands, is Harley Francine: a young immerging rock band. Harley Francine consists of lead vocalist- and guitarist Luc de Vries, lead guitarist Dennis van Putten, bass guitarist Florian Honer and drummer Russell Sluiter. Sharing a great passion for 80s and 90s alternative rock, the members joined together to form Harley Francine during the summer of 2019.
Generating the perfect balance between heavy, distorted guitars, hard-hitting drums and catchy hooks, the band released it’s debut album: Derailed on July 8 2022. New songs have been recorded in February and will be released one by one in 2023. The EP will be released in the beginning of 2024

Purple Pinky EP
If you like psychedelic, experimental yet catchy music with vaguely philosophical lyrics, you may like this new EP! It is the first release by Amsterdam based independent artist Purple Pinky, also known as Jolan Lammertink. Its sound is inspired by 70s/80s New Wave and Art Rock, popularized by artists such as David Bowie, King Crimson and Kate Bush, while also drawing from modern alternative rock, electronic music and jazz.
