Foxlane – Reflect

Foxlane is de beste onbekende band van Nederland. Misschien moeten we dat een beetje afbakenen. Foxlane is de beste onbekende indieband van Nederland.

Nu is zo’n uitspraak altijd een tikkeltje overdreven, want we kennen de meeste onbekende indiebands van NL niet. Ze zijn tenslotte onbekend. Het is maar om aan te geven hoe hoog wij de band hebben zitten. Reflect is al het vijfde nummer dat we van de band uit Nijmegen draaien. Dus aan ons ligt het niet dat de naam Foxlane niet op ieders lippen ligt.

De nieuwe single heeft alles wat Foxlane zo’n sterke band maakt; een geweldige sound, een spannende opbouw en een refrein waarvan je op je stoel klimt. En die gitaren! En hoor eens hoe zwierig de bassist door het nummer heen fietst! En hun postpunk insteek is ook nog eens origineel. Het wachten is nu op het debuutalbum.

P.S. Compleet onbekend is Foxlane nou ook weer niet. Tenminste niet bij fans van Peaky Blinders.  Hun nummer Birmingham was te horen in de populaire tv-serie.

Release ‘Agency’

Progressive indie rock artist Dunn, known for his dynamic work with bands like Carceri, The Great Communicators, and Voodoo Chambers, is excited to announce the release of his latest EP, ‘Agency’. This new EP, featuring five eclectic tracks, will be available on Friday, June 28.

The Vices – Wrong Ones

The Vices heeft een nieuw label. Het lijkt de band een adrenaline shot te hebben gegeven. De band klinkt op Wrong Ones alsof ze net een bank hebben beroofd.

Dat nieuwe label, V2 heeft nogal veel vertrouwen in de Groningers, want de beurs getrokken en een Britse producer ingehuurd. Charlie Andrews heeft zijn strepen verdiend als knoppendraaier bij Alt-J en ook goede dingen gedaan voor Bloc Party, Wolf Alice e.a. Wrong Ones is dus pittige track in een stijl die je zou kunnen omschrijven als symfonische punk of punky symfo, beetje Tubes achtig misschien wel. Het belooft wat voor zowel het nieuwe album van The Vices als de komende concerten.

Eli Superflyy – No No

We zijn er weer eens zo vroeg bij dat we bijna niks kunnen vertellen over de maker van No No simpelweg omdat de man nog maar weinig kilometers heeft gemaakt. Wat we wel weten is dit.

Eli Superflyy de artiestennaam is van Eli Chamberlain, een zanger-gitarist uit Wellington, Nieuw Zeeland. Eli debuteerde in 2019 met een EP die klinkt alsof hij is opgenomen in zijn badkamer. Ten tijde van zijn tweede EP uit 2021 had hij het opnameproces onder de knie, want die klinkt een stuk beter. De kwaliteit van zijn songs, zijn zang en gitaarspel zijn al vanaf het prille begin dik in orde. De kiwi heeft ook een eigen, eclectische stijl. Dwz hij doet aan alles en iedereen denken, maar lijkt op niets en niemand. Zijn songs zijn poppy, maar zeker niet plat. Beetje neurotisch zijn ze ook wel maar op een relaxte manier. Stel je Crowded House voor, om maar wat landgenoten van Eli erbij te slepen, maar dan licht ver- en gestoord. Bij No No draait om het contrast tussen de relatief rustige coupletten en de onstuimige gitaarinterrupties. Eli Superflyy een nieuwe naam dus, maar wel een om te onthouden.

The Unknown

June Sixteen is ready to launch their newest track “The Unknown” on June 16th. Exactly one year after the release of the debut album “Traveling Colors”.

“The Unknown” is a co-creation with Within Temptation drummer Mike Coolen, guitarist Gio Sliwa, Chicago based singer Dom Sky and Julie-O on flute.

The song starts off with a flower power vibe and has a surprising twist to some vintage rock sounds.
